Along with the program of the whole school, this department leads young men in the Catholic and Benedictine ways of knowledge, understanding, and practice of the faith, and/or acquiring a working knowledge of Catholicism for non-Catholic students. The words from the framed motto hanging in the school: "Christ is the reason for this school" and the Benedictine motto: "That in all things God may be glorified" are important in the work.
Each student is required to be enrolled in a Religious Studies class each semester for all four years. The department offers an Introduction to Catholicism for Freshmen; Sacred Scripture (Old and New Testament) for Sophomores; Prayer, Spirituality, and Sacraments (one semester) and Church History (one semester) for Juniors; and World Religions/Apologetics (one semester) and Catholic Morality and Social Justice (one semester) for Seniors.
