Confirmation

All powerful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, by water and the Holy Spirit you freed your sons and daughters from sin and gave them new life.

Send your Holy Spirit upon them to be their helper and guide. Give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of right judgment and courage, the spirit of knowledge and reverence. Fill them with the spirit of wonder and awe in your presence. (Rite of Confirmation).

For those young men who are Roman Catholic, our preparation program for Confirmation spans several months and includes a thorough survey of our Catholic beliefs and practices, opportunities for prayer and service, and a retreat emphasizing the gifts of the Spirit. The majority of our meeting times are Wednesdays after supper. The Chaplain will schedule individual times to meet with the candidates as needed.

In addition to his preparation, each candidate will need to:

  • choose a sponsor (an active Catholic at least 16 years of age)

  • choose a name for Confirmation (their baptismal name is very appropriate)

  • provide a copy of his baptismal certificate

The Celebration of the Sacrament is typically in March, but the specific date is determined by the office of the Bishop of Little Rock, the Most Rev. Anthony Taylor, D.D.
