Subi student leaders: Upcoming juniors Nigel Hawkins and Trevor Wasielewski are at Southern Arkansas University at the HOBY Leadership conference this weekend representing Subiaco Academy. The Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program-- known simply as HOBY, is recognized as one of the world's most prominent organizations focused on youth leadership. It is a program designed for high school sophomores, who then return to their respective schools and use the skills from the seminar and develop other leaders in the school at the same time. HOBY aims to inspire and develop the global community of youth & volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation. #subiacoacademy #onwardtrojans

Celebrating milestones together! On Reunion Weekend our Classes of 1974 and 1984 celebrated their 50th and 40th year since graduation. Reconnecting with lifelong friends made the weekend truly special.

Our recent alumni reunion brought some reflection about the class of 1979, celebrating their 45th year reunion. Known to be one of the most "mischievous" groups to graduate Subi, this class also produced seven religious vocations! Proof that mothers' prayers really do work miracles!🤲
Fr. Gabriel Anderson is a priest in Iowa, Fr. John Ringley is a priest in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Fr. Reginald Udouj, O.S.B. is a priest and monk at Subiaco Abbey, Dcn. Dan Schmitt is a deacon in St. Louis, Missouri, Dcn. Tim Costello serves as the Minister to Deacons for the Diocese of Little Rock, Br. Anthony Pierce is a monk at Subiaco Abbey, and Rev. Brotherhood in every sense of the word! 🌟 As our alumni gather this weekend to enjoy fellowship and brotherhood, it brings to mind that this past school year, we were honored to have multiple sets of brothers at Subi, sharing in faith, friendship, and education together.
Family names include Kersh, Schmitz, Post, Stevens, Araujo, Wasielewski, Folson, Wu, Lamboy, Giebel, Cowell, Nehus, and Cruz.
Many other families through the years have also had multiple brothers and cousins attending at the same time. Thank you to these families for the support and sacrifice they offer to educate their sons in the Benedictine tradition at Subiaco.
Here's to the bonds that grow stronger every day!

Even weeks after our graduation ceremony, the message from our commencement speaker, Mr. Jesse Navarro, continues to resonate with us at Subiaco Academy. As a distinguished member of the Tohono O'odham people, one of the Native American tribes of the Sonoran Desert, Mr. Navarro is the Baboquivari District Legislative Council
Representative, and is from the village of Coldfields in the Baboquivari District on the Tohono O’odham Nation.
Mr. Navarro relayed to the graduates the message that it is important to always remember who you are and where you come from. That by sharing our unique God-given gifts and abilities, we can become true leaders. According to one of his most influential Native American mentors, a true leader is identified by someone who can "take the arrows in the back and the bullets in the front." He reminded the graduates that when the path to leadership is difficult, it is important to stay humble and pray for those who may not be supportive. His address concluded with a song that he presented in his native O'odham language. Demonstrating honorably that he remembers who he is and where he comes from.
We are especially proud this year of two of our 2024 graduates from the same Native American heritage and tribal lands in Arizona as our commencement speaker. Delo Folson and Johnny Miguel are the first of the Tohono O'odham Nation to graduate from Subiaco Academy.
During his time here at the academy, in addition to other achievements, Delo excelled as a member of the Jazz Ensemble, standing out as an exceptional drummer in our band that travels and performs live in locations such as Memphis Beale Street and the San Antonio Riverwalk. Johnny also thrived in the Subiaco environment in many ways, earning the Medal at graduation for Excellence in Application to Studies, and also receiving the esteemed Wardlaw scholarship of $10,000 to go towards the pursuits of a higher education.
Our Subiaco community looks forward to the other future graduates from the Tohono O'odham Nation, and are grateful to Mr. Navarro for sharing his words of wisdom and guidance.

On Memorial Day we honor all military members who have died while serving in U.S. forces in any current or previous wars.
Every day, and especially today, we remember and honor the memory of all our alumni, faculty, staff and family members of our community who have given their lives for our country.
“There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends.” John 15:13
For all of our alumni and family members of our community who currently serve our country in the U.S. forces, we pray for safety and protection.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle…

Outstanding group on the road! First night at Agua Piedra just south of Taos. Spent most of today on a hike through the snow to Williams Lake just below the peak of Mount Wheeler, NM's highest peak.
