🔦Welcome to this week's Subiaco Academy Spotlight! In honor of March being National Women's month, we are proud to highlight all of the women who are a part of Subiaco Academy. Today's spotlight is on math teacher, coach, and student council sponsor, MaryAnn Hoffower. Mrs. Hoffower is a dedicated wife to Dan Hoffower, a mother of four, and a passionate educator. Married with a loving family, her children, Elizabeth (24), Jacob (23), Eli(20), and Mia(9), bring joy and fulfillment to her life. As an educator, Mrs. Hoffower is an active participant in fostering a vibrant academic community on our Subiaco campus. She covers a spectrum of subjects, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Honors Algebra I, Geometry, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, and Personal Finance. Her commitment extends beyond the classroom as she coaches the Junior high quiz bowl team, mentors the Subiaco 7th and 8th-grade Mathletes, sponsors the student council, and leads the storm spotters. Her favorite aspect of teaching is witnessing the "ah-ha" moments when students grasp complex concepts, a source of great satisfaction for her. Mrs. Hoffower's journey to becoming a math teacher is a testament to her diverse experiences. A former member of the Army, firefighter, and counselor turned human resources specialist at a substance abuse facility, she eventually realized her dream of becoming a math teacher. Her early calling to serve, influenced by her mother's example, shaped her diverse career path. In high school, Mrs. Hoffower was a cheerleader and played the trombone in the band. Her favorite subject was principles of economics, which laid the foundation for her eventual career in teaching mathematics and finance. Arriving at Subiaco, Mrs. Hoffower was welcomed with kindness and support, creating fond memories of her first day. A unique facet of Mrs. Hoffower's life is her never having experienced hiccups, and the mere sound of them bothers her. Despite facing challenges, she is proudly a disabled veteran and her commitment to service remains unwavering. Mrs. Hoffower's life is a testament to her resilience, dedication to education, and the fulfillment found in shaping young minds.

Our Jazz ensemble performed for the Logan County Lenten Luncheon yesterday in the Performing Arts Center on campus. It was a captive audience who especially enjoyed the rendition of Knocking on Heaven's Door by Bob Dylan, featuring one of our seniors, Tioré Hart on vocals. #STP #subiacoacademy

The sunny spring Arkansas weather today gave an opportunity to utilize a drone to get a better look at the topography surrounding our academy's campus. The 2024 Senior class visited a local business today as a part of their Parallel Curriculum class "Entrepreneurship", led by Subiaco Academy headmaster, Dr. David Wright. The Stirling Soap Company, founded by Subiaco Alumnus, Roderick Lovan (Class of '96) and wife Amanda Lovan, in January 2012, offers environmentally conscious, all-natural handmade soaps. The Lovans expanded to manage Stirling Roastery offering an assortment of coffee from around the world.
Our students were educated by their fellow Subiaco brother, Mr. Lovan, about the business-building process, production, and distribution involved in his company. Learn more about Stirling Soap company at stirlingsoap.com , and our parallel curriculum at the Subiaco Academy YouTube account https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxlVQdNeai4&pp=ygUndGhlIHN1YmlhY28gYWNhZGVteSBwYXJhbGxlbCBjdXJyaWN1bHVt

🏅The Trojan Sr High Quiz Bowl team finished 4th this past Saturday in the Regional tournament in Gravette. The team played hard and was competitive in every match. We won the first match against Ozark 295 - 120. We then lost the next two matches to Huntsville (150 - 230), the eventual tournament champion, and then to the host team Gravette (140 - 175). Our final match of the afternoon was against Berryville -- a nail-biter that came down to the last question, but one in which we ultimately fell short by 5 points (175 - 180).
The team has competed hard this year and will practice during the off season to gear up for what we fully expect to be an even more successful season next year. Onward Trojans! Your Subiaco community is proud of you and your hard work!
