JOURNEY TO THE GRAND CANYON: 13 hours on the road and a final day steak dinner saw the guys and their leaders back at Subiaco. The guys’ comments during a round table wrap up session made it clear that they had a very impressive experience. Some said the highlight was Grand Canyon while others liked the swimming or Chaco Cultural Center best. John Bui said his favorite part was just traveling and experiencing things together. ONWARD TROJANS!

JOURNEY TO THE GRAND CANYON: After stops at the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, the guys took a photo on Route 66 as they make their way east towards home. Keep our guys in your ongoing prayers. ONWARD TROJANS!

JOURNEY TO THE GRAND CANYON: A photo was snapped with some of our Trojans at Mather Point in the Grand Canyon. Set just inside the south entrance to the park, Mather Point often serves as introduction to the Canyon. This was a sunset befitting a glorious day in the Canyon. Keep our guys in your ongoing prayers. ONWARD TROJANS.

JOURNEY TO THE GRAND CANYON: Our guys got up early to catch the 4 am bus. They had to deal with some major wind at the "Ooh Aah Point" which is a viewpoint located 600 feet below the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It is part of the South Kaibab trail, a 6.3 mile hike which descends 4,800 feet from the Rim. Some of them were a little underdressed for the weather as the wind can really kick up quickly. This hike and outdoor experience typify what the early monks expected of the students back in 1887 when they would have major hikes 3-4 times each week. Its good to see the Trojans experiencing the beauty of nature. Keep our guys in your ongoing prayers. ONWARD TROJANS.

JOURNEY TO THE GRAND CANYON: Our Trojans have reached the Grand Canyon and you can see their first sunset view. Keep our guys in your ongoing prayers. ONWARD TROJANS!

JOURNEY TO THE GRAND CANYON: Our Trojans continue their journey to the Grand Canyon. They have just had their FIRST LOOK at the Canyon with a view from the desert. Keep our guys in your ongoing prayers. ONWARD TROJANS!

JOURNEY TO THE GRAND CANYON: Our Trojans continue their journey to the Grand Canyon with a visit to the Chaco Culture National Historical Park (Pueblo Bonita and Pueblo Alto). The park is located in northwestern New Mexico and, as Wikipedia tells us, contains “the most sweeping collection of ancient ruins north of Mexico, the park preserves one of the most important pre-Columbian cultural and historical areas in the United States. Between AD 900 and 1150, Chaco Canyon was a major center of culture for the Ancestral Puebloans… The sites are considered sacred ancestral homelands by the Hopi and Pueblo people.” Keep our guys in your ongoing prayers. ONWARD TROJANS!

JOURNEY TO THE GRAND CANYON: Our crew continues their journey. A few of our guys are pictured here at GHOST RANCH. WIKIPEDIA TELLS US: "Ghost Ranch is a 21,000-acre retreat and education center located close to the village of Abiquiú in Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico, United States. It was the home and studio of Georgia O'Keeffe, as well as the subject of many of her paintings. Ghost Ranch is also known for a remarkable concentration of fossils, most notably that of the theropod dinosaur Coelophysis, of which it has been estimated that nearly a thousand individuals have been preserved in a quarry at Ghost Ranch." Keep our guys in your ongoing prayers. ONWARD TROJANS!

JOURNEY TO THE GRAND CANYON: Coach Pugh sent the following photos showing the "Grand Canyon" crew on their journey as they stopped in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They are photographed at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi which was founded as a parish in 1714. The church itself was completed in 1887. Keep our brothers in your prayers. ONWARD TROJANS!

Reminder: don't forget about picture day.

Preparing for a dip! Since the 1930s a swimming pool has been located at the bottom of the hill near the athletic fields of Subiaco Abbey and Academy. As part of the current capital campaign, Legacy From Tradition: Onward Together, we are constructing a new swimming pool with a versatile footprint that will include three lanes for lap workouts and swim team practices. As part of the whole person development for Academy students, physical activity is a very important element for our young men. Our guests and retreatants, along with summer camp attendees, will benefit from this exciting upgrade.

Early morning students with classes on the second and third floors of the monastery had an amazing view of South Park this morning. The sugar maples are definitely putting on a show at Subiaco this year! #TrojanPride #ozarkslife #gardenlife

Undoubtedly the most beautiful tree in the history of trees, right here at Subiaco Academy! #outdoorlife #TrojanPride # #ozarkhistory

Many thanks to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission's Karen Westcamp-Johnson and Jason Collier who taught hunter safety in our Outdoor Recreation PE course last week! We covered basic hunting skills and learned with dummy guns (no firing pins)

Learning is more than sitting in a classroom. At Subiaco Academy, our enrichment periods can take an entrepreneurial turn. Here, students help Brother Sebastian label peanut brittle tins in preparation for the Christmas Season. #STP #TrojanPride #countrymonks

After giving up 581 yards and 64 points to Marshall earlier this year, Subiaco Academy's defense had something to prove last Friday. And did they! Our boys held Marshall to 242 yards and 12 points. They forced 9 turnovers with 2 interceptions that were returned for touchdowns. Our defense was amazing last week and we are bringing that energy to Episcopal Tonight! #STP #TrojanPride #onwardtrojans
