🌟FAITH AND FOCUS 🌟At Subiaco
Academy, our students shine as leaders both in their faith and in their extracurricular interests-on the field, in the classroom, and beyond. Inspiring by example, they show what it means to lead with purpose and heart.
One of those students is a senior from Fort Smith, Arkansas, Marvin Menjivar. Marvin serves regularly as a lector at our Subiaco Academy Wednesday student mass and solemnity masses. For years he has served in many ways at his home parish of Immaculate Conception in Fort Smith. Marvin also is an active leader in the Jazz Ensemble, Soccer team, Cultural Awareness of Subiaco Academy Club (CASA club), and as an academic tutor of his peers through the National Honors Society.

Today our Subiaco faculty, staff, administrators, and monks held a farewell reception to celebrate one of our Subiaco community treasures, Mr. Robert Pugh, Class of 1994.
Coach Pugh has worked at Subiaco Academy since August of 1999. During his time here, he has served as a residential dean; a teacher of history, driver’s education, health, and study skills; a coach; a bus driver; an assistant athletic director and a CERT team member. Coach Pugh became the school counselor in 2009 and he was recently named an honorary alumnus of the class of 1994. The Academy greatly appreciates all that he has done to serve our students and community.
Coach Pugh was celebrated with tributes by Abbot Elijah Owens, OSB, Headmaster Dr. David Wright, Chaplain of Subiaco Academy Dcn. Roy Goetz, and Assistant Head of School for Academics & Communications Ms. Cheryl Goetz. All spoke highly of his achievements and character, and of his unwavering integrity. He was also presented with a treasured handmade wooden bowl, crafted by Fr. Jerome Kodell, OSB, Class of '57.
The most challenging part about saying farewell, is that Coach Pugh is one of those unique individuals that has greatly impacted everyone on the hill and countless students over his 25 year Subiaco career. To say he will be missed is a gross understatement. It will be difficult to replace Rob Pugh as a dependable colleague at the academy, but it will be impossible to replace Rob Pugh as a loyal, caring, and selfless friend to all of us.
May your future endeavors be blessed, Mr. Robert Pugh. The heart of your Subiaco community goes with you. Onward Trojans!

Grateful for our Chaplain, Dcn. Goetz, who led the student body, faculty, and administration in a meaningful Advent prayer service and travel blessing in the Performing Arts Center today.
Many of our boarding students will journey by academy bus to other states, while others will travel by air to their home countries and beyond to reunite with their families. May their travels be safe and their holidays filled with peace and joy! Wishing everyone a safe and blessed Christmas season!
