This summer we are celebrating our Trojans and their success at their summer jobs, activities, and internships! Hudson Pruitt, Collin Cummins | Class of 2025 and 2026 | Film production From the classroom to the global stage! 🎬 We are proud of our rising senior Hudson Pruitt, a native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Collin Cummins, a rising junior of Van Buren, Arkansas, who took part in the production of a short film that is making waves in the film world, capturing hearts and winning awards worldwide. Hudson and Collin both came to Subiaco early, Hudson as a freshman, and Collin as a 7th grader. "I had a desire to achieve academic success, and Subiaco was the way to achieve it, " explained Hudson. During summer breaks both students have earned service hours by volunteering on the set of a film production company based in Van Buren, Arkansas. The Oliver Springs Music Club (Formally Parkview Music Club) is made up of Students from Oliver Springs Elementary School in Van Buren, Arkansas and has produced several fan films, such as this award-winning Indiana Jones and the Treasure of the Aztecs, based on characters created by George Lucas. On this film, Collin served as a production assistant, while Hudson volunteered as the Grip. Hudson received the award for "Best Grip" by Zepstone International Film Awards for his work on this short film. A grip is a technician who sets up, operates, and maintains the rigging and equipment that supports the camera and lighting to achieve the director and cinematographer's desired shot. This short film has received unexpected attention in the film festival circuit both internationally and in the United States, winning 64 awards so far! Some of the most notable awards come from the Roman Movie Awards, France; New York International Film Awards; Red Movie Awards, France; Zepstone Film Festival, Salt Lake City; Nitlin Film Festival, Malaysia; Indie-X Film Festival, Los Angeles; and the Telly Award, famous in the film industry. Hudson was recognized for his role as Grip, and sat in on a filmmaker panel in Hot Springs, Arkansas last winter. Collin has played roles in production of several other short films created by this same successful film community over the last several years. The director of this fan film, Kevin Croxton, is an Emmy Award Winning composer, and a local educator in Van Buren, Arkansas who is currently a Grammy Music Educator Award Quarter Finalist for 2024. Croxton has been a dedicated mentor of young students in this area of film and music for many years. In addition to volunteering service hours to film production, Hudson Pruitt also enjoys blacksmithing and baking. Collin Cummins has been active at Subiaco in soccer, quiz bowl, and cross country. Join us in recognizing these successful Subiaco students! You can find the award-winning short film on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BRCjTXIMZM&authuser=0 . Brotherhood in every sense of the word! 🌟 As our alumni gather this weekend to enjoy fellowship and brotherhood, it brings to mind that this past school year, we were honored to have multiple sets of brothers at Subi, sharing in faith, friendship, and education together. Family names include Kersh, Schmitz, Post, Stevens, Araujo, Wasielewski, Folson, Wu, Lamboy, Giebel, Cowell, Nehus, and Cruz. Many other families through the years have also had multiple brothers and cousins attending at the same time. Thank you to these families for the support and sacrifice they offer to educate their sons in the Benedictine tradition at Subiaco. Here's to the bonds that grow stronger every day! #Brotherhood #subiacoacademy #subiacoacademyalumni
