📣Rising Subiaco seniors, Alex Stengel and Samuel Wu have earned the honor to attend Arkansas Boys State this summer.
More than 610 of the state’s brightest young men, representing 207 high schools throughout the state, will attend Arkansas Boys State, an immersive leadership and civic engagement experience sponsored by the American Legion. This summer marks the 84th annual session of this event.
Lloyd Jackson, executive director of Arkansas Boys State, commented
that the fact that Alex and Samuel were nominated to attend speaks volumes to their character, pursuit of excellence and desire to make their community stronger.
During their week at Arkansas Boys State, Stengel and Wu will be assigned a political party, city, and county.
Throughout the week, they and their peers will administer, from the ground up, a mock government as if it were real: run for office, draft and pass legislation, solve municipal challenges and engage constituents.
Congratulations to our Trojans! Leaders in the making!

Celebrating Mr. Mike Berry!
After 28 years of dedicated service to Subiaco, Mr. Mike Berry is retiring from education at the end of this school year. From volunteer coach to Headmaster and Athletic Director, Mike has worn many hats and shaped countless lives along the way. We thank him for his unwavering commitment, leadership, and the legacy he leaves behind. Congratulations on a remarkable career, and best wishes for the road ahead!
Being a part of the Subiaco family extends to Mr. Berry's lovely wife, Adele, who served the academy for 13 years as the school nurse, and to his sons who graduated from the academy in 2013 and 2016. Mr. Berry is an honorary alumnus, Class of '85.
"Subiaco has held a special place in my heart and that of my family's for many generations. It has been a lot more than a job for me, but more of a vocation. I have cherished my time here and will always hold Subiaco dear to my heart."
Our entire Subiaco community will greatly miss the Berry family. We thank Mr. Mike Berry for his dedicated service to Subiaco Academy! May God bless you and Onward Trojans!

Four years. Countless memories.
One final 1-on-1.
What started as a freshman-year tradition all their own, ends with Sergio taking the title as the overall champ. The real win is the bond they built.
Two seniors - Sergio from Hickiwan Village of the Tohono O’odham Nation in the Sonoran Desert and Evan from Van Buren, Arkansas—whose paths may never have crossed if not for Subiaco.
This brotherhood, built through dedication, laughter, and tradition, is what it’s all about. Onward Trojans!

Fr. Leonard, once dorm dean, algebra teacher, headmaster—and even abbot—studies the Class of 2025 composite. With decades of service to the Academy and monastery, one wonders what memories and hopes cross his mind as he looks over the next generation. #countrymonks #subiacoacademy #classof2025

Fr. Brendan's photo is displayed in the main lobby of our academy today, appropriately set near the student lockers in the academy to which he dedicated much of his heart and soul. We will remember our beloved Fr. Brendan Miller this evening at his wake (7:00pm) and tomorrow at the Funeral Mass (10:00am) in the Abbey Church of St. Benedict.
In his work for our academy, Fr. Brendan was a mainstay as Spiritual Counselor and member of the Academy Student Services Staff, which aids students having difficulty with academic, disciplinary, and/or personal concerns. He also served both for a time as the Academy Chaplain and for five years as a teacher of Religious Studies in our Academy.
Rest in Peace, Father. You will be missed.

White smoke! "Habemus Papam!"
Our students have been engaged in the process of the conclave and eagerly watched as the white smoke appeared and our new pope was chosen.
Join us as we pray for our new Holy Father- Pope Leo XIV - the first pope from the United States of America - may he be led by the Holy Spirit as he guides the Church with faith, hope, and love.

At Wednesday mass, our academy chaplain, Dc. Roy Goetz, and students proudly presented a check to Sr. Rosalie Ruesewald, OSB, and Oblate Kathy Jarvis in support of the Girls Education Matters scholarship for San Benito School in Guatemala. Thanks to the dedication and compassion of our students, funds were raised to help empower young girls through education. #GirlsEducationMatters #StudentLeaders #GlobalImpact #CatholicEducation #SanBenitoSchool #ServeWithLove #subiacoacademy

One of our seniors had one special request before graduation: to learn how to make authentic guacamole from Señora Flores, our Spanish teacher who grew up in Mexico. This week, she made it happen. It’s the little things our teachers do that make a big difference!

Where history and nature meet! As a perfect hands-on boost to their American history course, our 7th–8th graders explored Hot Springs National Park —diving into stories of health and healing at the historic landmark of Bathhouse Row, learning about the ancient origins of the 143 degree thermal springs, and the ecosystems found in this corner of the Ouachita Mountains. Hot Springs was set aside as a federal reservation in 1832, before the creation of the National Park Service. It’s considered America’s first federally protected area. #subiacoacademy #hotsprings #arkansascatholicschools

Cinco de Mayo may have passed, but the appreciation still lasts! Señora Flores continuously guides our students with cultural celebrations of music, history, foods, and for May 5th, the spirit of Cinco de Mayo! The Mexican candy … 10/10! ¡Gracias, Señora!
