Meet Camarion Raino, a senior from Van Buren, Arkansas who has found success at Subiaco Academy. In addition to working diligently for academic success, Camarion has persevered in his efforts to achieve tremendous success as a top Wrestler in the state of Arkansas. Through it all, he manages to maintain a humble demeanor, which adds to his appeal and proves to be true to his nature. This past weekend Camarion wrestled in the Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling State Championships. He dominated the tournament and secured First place in both styles! In doing so, Camarion has earned the Coveted Triple Crown. The only way to earn the Triple Crown is by winning the state championship for all three disciplines of wrestling in a given year. This feat is only completed by very few all across the nation. Camarion did so in a dominant fashion outscoring his opponents in all three state tournaments 79-7! Camarion also has qualified for the Arkansas National Team for the third straight year! He will represent the state of Arkansas in the 285 lb weight class in Fargo, North Dakota later in July! When asked how he felt about the coveted Triple Crown this was his response: “I'm still the same guy. Tomorrow I will wake up and go work in the kitchen. Life goes on.” This humility is genuine to his character, and displays one reason that he is beloved on campus by both his peers and others. After graduation, Camarion will continue his education and wrestling in the fall of 2024 at William Woods University. His Subiaco family wishes him all the best and is confident that he will find success in college and beyond. Congratulations to our Camarion Raino, and Onward Trojans!

Today begins our annual student Penny Wars, Lunchtime Fast, and Dress Down Days! All in an effort for our students to fund at least one full educational scholarship for a young girl in Guatemala to go to school. Subiaco Abbey and Academy are Partners in Education with San Benito school in Guatemala. These scholarships are specifically for the GEM (Girls' Education matters) program which is run by the sisters at Saint Scholastica in Fort Smith. A full scholarship can be funded with just $500! It is especially meaningful for our students to raise funds so that girls can have the same educational advantages they enjoy. It is also an important opportunity to increase our students' awareness about hunger globally and locally. If interested in helping our cause, please contact kkennedy@subi.org to find out more.
